Camel Valley has topped the trophy leader board as the winner of the International Sparkling Rosé Trophy for its Pinot Noir Rosé Brut 2016 in the Italian competition Challenge Euposia, Bollicini Del Mundo, which was held recently in Orvieto.
This is the 5th time that Camel Valley has scooped a trophy in Challenge Euposia – making it the most awarded producer, in the competition in the 12 years of its existence.
Over thirty judges took part – from China to France, Sweden, Germany, United Kingdom and Italy – tasting over 180 sparkling wines from across the sparkling wine making world: Champagne, Argentina, Mexico, Spain, Andorra, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, India and Japan. All the wines entered are bottle-fermented sparkling wine and the wines are tasted blind and scored, with the highest scores earning the trophies in white and rosé categories.
“We’re obviously delighted to win this trophy again,” commented Bob Lindo, owner of Camel Valley. “Knowing that these wines have been tasted blind and critiqued by a truly international panel in Italy, elevates this achievement for the Camel Valley team to something truly significant.”
Devon’s Sharpham Vineyard took the Trophy for top UK sparkling wine in the same competition.
Other awards went to: Champagne Perrier-Jouet, Rebollini Oltrepò, Colombo Alta Langa,Cesarini Sforza, Kettmeir, Cavicchioli and Terra dei Re.
