Gusbourne Still and Sparkling for English Wine Week
Friday, 25th June 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm£55
English Wine Week is back for another year and as proud members of Wines of Great Britain, the Wine School of Cheshire is always excited to tale part!
One of several events for 2021, join us in our Chester Tasting Room to discover the remarkable still and sparkling wines of the Gusbourne Estate, England’s most prestigious winemaker.
As well as the 2016 vintages of Gusbourne Brut Reserve and Gusbourne Rosé Brut, we have the latest vintage (2019) release of Gusbourne Guinevere Chardonnay as well as their outstanding 2020 still rosé from the Mill Hill vineyard and both releases of their phenomenal 2018 Boot Hill vineyard Pinot Noir, the latter with extended barrel ageing – six wines in total to enjoy!
The original Gusbourne Estate in Appledore, Kent dates back to 1410. In 2004, Andrew Weeber took over the estate with a clear vision and a single goal: to create English sparkling wines that would stand up alongside the very finest offerings from across the globe.
The first vines were planted that year. In 2010 the debut vintages of Gusbourne Brut Reserve 2006 and Gusbourne Blanc de Blancs 2006 were released to critical acclaim. Gusbourne quickly earned a reputation as a producer of outstanding quality wines, with accolades from some of the industry’s most exacting critics.
Winemaker Charlie Holland honed his skills in Australia, Germany, New Zealand and the USA before taking the helm at Gusbourne. With numerous international awards to his name, Charlie has produced some of the most celebrated sparkling wines in the UK and beyond.
Join us in The Tasting Room in Godstall Lane: our very own home of all things wine in the heart of Chester city centre, just moments from Chester Cathedral and The Rows. We’ll enjoy these incredible wines with sharing boards to fully appreciate how food and wine matching works.
