Local Wine Tasting hosted by the Norfolk Wine School
Thursday, June 23 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm£35
it’s time for our annual local wine tasting. While quality wines are made in vineyards stretching from Yorkshire to Cornwall it’s no secret that the warm, dry climate of East Anglia produces some of England’s best still wines.
Norfolk landed firmly on the world wine map back in 2017 when a locally produced wine won the Platinum Best in Show award at the prestigious Decanter World Wine awards; but I think the most exciting times for local wines are yet to come.
You may have tried a local Bacchus but have you ever tasted a Solaris or Schonberger? Did you know you can even find a Pinot Noir or a Rioja-style red without leaving the county?
Explore the wines of the local region with us. From the fog-sheltered vineyards hugging the River Yare to the warm, sunny sites of South Norfolk and beyond to vineyards on a seam of chalk on the North Norfolk coast there are dozens of delicious wines to discover.
We’ll explain what makes our local ‘terroir’ so special; introduce you to the local people making the wines and taste a range of six local wines that we think are worthy of a slot in your wine rack.
At the time of releasing this event local vineyards are finishing the wines from last years vintage ready to release for sale. Once we’ve tasted our way through the wines that will be available we’ll update this listing with more details on the wines we plan to taste.
We know we have amazing local produce too so we’ll pair one wine with a local cheese and one wine with another locally produced food.
We’ll even recommend the best vineyards to visit and share which vineyards and wines we think you should look out for in the future.
