Winery Preparation for Harvest

This webinar will cover:

  • Harvest safety briefing  (NB ‘Managing Covid -19 during Harvest’ will be a separate webinar on 18 August)
  • Training requirements for equipment, including fork lifts etc
  • Logistics and planning: ordering spare parts and winemaking supplies, cellar team and communications
  • Equipment servicing and checks
  • Winemaking preparation: yeast nutrition, co-inoculation for MLF  (NB ‘Managing MLF’ will be covered in detail on 29 October)
  • Communications with the vineyard managers (NB ‘Preparation in the Vineyard for Harvest’ webinar will be on 27 August)

Managing Covid-19 During Harvest: learning from the Australia and New Zealand experience

Tuesday 18 August, 10.00am  (note new earlier time)

Webinar format:

  1.  Attendees are encourage to watch this webinar: 'Lessons from Down Under Navigating Harvest in the Time of Covid' first.  Three winemakers, including Dan Buckle, Winemaker, Domaine Chandon, Australia, discuss their experiences and share tips on operating a winery at harvest during Covid-19.  This webinar last about 45 mins.
  2. The WineGB webinar will then be an opportunity for attendees to ask questions to Dan Buckle, Liam Idzikowski and Emma Rice on planning winery operations this harvest, within any Covid-19 constraints.

Topics covered: Planning ahead and logistics, distancing at work, communications, using digital technology, record keeping and going paperless, health and safety, risk assessment, cleaning and hygiene, and any additional training for the team.
