The annual WineGB Awards showcases one of the world’s most exciting wine regions, and the calibre of judges and competition partners make this a major competition for WineGB members. The winning results are widely broadcast through extensive PR and social media. The judges are always a glittering line up of wine luminaries carefully chosen to represent different spheres of the wine world, from wine buying and selling in retail, wholesale and the on-trade as well as communication. Each has extensive experience in competition judging and professional knowledge of English and Welsh wines. All the wines are judged to international standards of marking.
Due to COVID-19, changes to the competition have been made this year to ensure that we can run our awards safely:
- Our judging panel will consist of three amazing judges, who will taste all wine samples over a five day period from 20 to 24 July. Our panel members this year are Susie Barrie MW, Oz Clarke OBE and Rebecca Palmer (Wine Buyer Corney & Barrow).
- We are limiting the number of wines that can be entered to 270, to enable enough time over the five day period for the panel to discuss each wine.
- The judging will take place outside of London; our location this year will be Ashling Park Wine Estate in West Sussex.
- We will be hosting a Virtual Awards Ceremony (instead of our Awards Gala Dinner) on 8th September, which will be promoted widely to press, social influencers, trade and consumers.
The competition is open to WineGB Members only.
“The WineGB Awards are the leading awards for the UK wine industry. Each year the competition attracts entries from the country's finest producers, and it exists to shine a light on the very best of the best” Susie Barrie MW, Co-Chair of judges, WineGB Awards
The Awards are run by the industry body Wines of Great Britain (WineGB), and we are delighted to be supported by our sponsors and hosts:
